Dr. Gilbert Olanya, the Member of Parliament Kilak South in Amuru district has threatened to sue government if it does not compensate traders whose shops were looted during the December 6th chaos in Gulu city.
Several shops along Lagara road, mainly belonging to traders from the Bantu community were looted when National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi wine was in the city to campaign.
Olanya who was addressing a press conference yesterday in Gulu City said that he was compiling a list of the affected traders and the value of goods looted on the fateful day.
The legislator calls upon legal minds interested in the matter to join hands to sue government and ensure that the traders are compensated.
Security personnel in Gulu City late last year said that most of the looted goods had been recovered and returned to the owners.
