Police in the Wamala region are investigating the murder of an 85-year-old woman in Kyankwanzi District.
According to the Wamala Region Police spokesperson, SSP Lameck Kigozi, the deceased has been identified as Florence Namale, a resident of Ntibakayembe Village in Ntwetwe Town Council, Kyankwanzi.
Kigozi says that on Tuesday morning, Namale went to her garden to collect coffee beans.
While there, she was attacked and killed by unidentified assailants.
Her grandson, 18-year-old John Bosco Sabalinzi, became concerned when his grandmother delayed returning home for breakfast.
He followed her to the garden, where he discovered her body lying in a pool of blood.
Kigozi says police have commenced investigations to arrest those responsible.
He appeals to members of the public with any information to come forward and assist the police in bringing the culprits to justice.
