Santa Foundation, a local Organisation based in Gulu is set to hold a mental health camp for children, youths and adults in early January.
Oliver Atim, the Executive Director of Santa Foundation, notes that many children are today faced with challenges they are not free to talk about with their parents.
Atim says that during previous holiday programs with the children, they realized that some children were suicidal but could not talk to their parents due to a communication gap.
She explains that instead of listening, some parents quarrel or send their children away.
Lack of mentorship on parenting, marriage breakage and exposure to too much negative media are some of the challenges facing families today.
Atim says that the camp that will be held at Osprey Nest Nursery School in Kanyagoga, Bardege-Layibi Division, from January 5th to 10th will help address some of these challenges through counselling and training.
