The security in Apac District has dismissed reports of a gang attack at Apac Seed Secondary School on Easter Sunday.
The security and the school’s authority clarify that the incident was a clash between students and local youth outside the school premises.
It had been claimed that 5 armed assailants attacked students within the school, leaving several injured.
However, investigations concluded that the attack on the students did not take place within the school’s premises.
Andrew Onyuk, Apac Resident District Commissioner (RDC), says the incident stemmed from indiscipline among some students who sneaked out of school at night.
According to Onyuk, students left the school after a talent show and evening activities organized by the administration, sneaked out to a nearby disco in the trading center, and had a misunderstanding with local youth that escalated into a fight.
The situation worsened when some youth reportedly followed the students towards the school, leading to injuries.
Onyuk further explains that investigations have led to the arrest of several suspects by the police.
James Keba, the school’s Head teacher, confirms that the school had held official entertainment activities which ended peacefully, and all students had been accounted for before the night’s incident occurred.
The head teacher emphasizes that there was no attack within the school.
Apac Seed Secondary School is a government-aided secondary school established in 2020.
