Senegalese Football Federation Files Appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport on 2025 AFCON Final

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has confirmed receipt of the appeal lodged by the Senegalese Football Federation in regard to the 2025 AFCON final.

The appeal follows a decision by CAF to strip Senegal of their 2025 AFCON triumph that took place on the 18th of January in Rabat, Morocco.

The final that was marred by controversy saw Senegal edge Morocco 1-0 in extra time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

However, the Senegalese players walked off the pitch for some minutes before returning to complete the game.

Last week, CAF through its Appeals Body ruled that Senegal lost the game by forfeiture and thus Morocco were announced as Champions.

The aforementioned decision was strongly rejected by Senegal who have now sought legal redress in CAS.

In their appeal to CAS, Senegal seek that the decision by CAF is set aside and the former is re-installed as AFCON 2025 Champions.
