The works department in Omoro district has started maintenance of the 14.6kms Abole-Keto-Hima road.
The road maintenance work which is being funded at 112 million shillings from central Government’s Mechanized Road maintenance grant is expected to be completed in three weeks, according to Douglas Peter Okello Okao, the Omoro district L.C V Chairperson.
Okao says the maintenance work includes bush clearing, culvert installation, full gravelling and drainage opening.
He adds that the road which was opened in the 2021/2022 financial year has high connectivity to schools, health centres and markets hence the need for it’s maintenance.
Okao urges the community to send their children to school and engage in farming and business in order to increase household income.
The local community has welcomed the development and have pledged to avoid using ox-ploughs on the road.
