
Gulu Regional Referral Hospital registers eight percent mortality rate every three months, according to medics from the facility.
Dr. Philip Okot, the regional focal person for TB and leprosy says eight percent of the 800 TB cases registered every three months from the Acholi sub region succumb to complications of the disease.
Okot explains that TB mortality is still high because patients report late to the facility.
He emphasizes the need to sensitize the community about the importance of testing to reduce mortality
On Thursday last week, Gulu Regional Referral Hospital received a mobile tuberculosis (TB) clinic truck which will be used for conducting outreaches in the sub region in order to detect and treat TB cases early.
Dr. Peter Mukobi, the Director Gulu Regional Referral hospital says the mobile clinic will address the challenge of poor health seeking behavior among the population.
