NRM District Chair Arrested in Amolatar Over Election Funds

The Amolatar District National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairperson has been arrested for disbursing less money to party flag bearers for the LCI and women council elections.

Kamilo Olwit was arrested yesterday after it emerged that he had disbursed 50,000 shillings instead of 100,000 shillings in all the 16 sub counties.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police spokesperson confirms the report saying Olwit is being held at Amolatar Central Police Stations.

Okema says that police are taking statements from members who received less money from the party chairperson.

The Electoral Commission has set the L.CI elections for July 28th.

Voters will be expected to line up behind their candidate of choice.
