The detectives at Gulu Central Business Policing Division have registered and are actively investigating an incident of suspected food poisoning which occurred at New Bridge Guest House on Friday at around 6:00pm.

David Ongom Mudong, the Police Spokesperson for Aswa West says the incident was reported by Awet Grimay, an Eritrean by nationality who doubles as the Manager of New Bridge Guest House along commercial road within Gulu City.

Allegations indicate that Matende, a client at the Guest House gave biscuits and sweets suspected to have been laced with poisonous substances to 21-year-old Nyero Tracy and 24-year-old Adongo Scovia who are cleaners at the Guest house.

Allegations also indicate that the duo became unconscious and collapsed on the bed of room No.1 after consuming the items hence prompting the Manager of the guest house to inform police of Gulu CPS.

Mudong says Police detectives headed by the scene of crime officers visited the scene, documented it, recorded statements from the Guest House Manager and other relevant sources to aid investigations.

The two victims were rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention before they were discharged on Saturday morning.
