The police in Gulu West are investigating a case of fire outbreak in Layibi Centre,
Tegwana parish, Pece laroo division, Gulu City.
David Ongom Mudong, the Police Spokesperson for Aswa West says a fire call was received from Peter Banya, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner in charge of Laroo-Pece Division.
Mudong says the outbreak occurred in a makeshift structure measuring 2 by 5 meters used for making chapati and extended to another makeshift structure which serves as a restaurant.
He adds that Police under the command of Cpl Omara Denis and crew were then dispatched to the scene.
The fire was extinguished by the Gulu fire brigade by using a 30 meters long delivery hose and diffuser branch.
Mudong says the metallic Kiosk with shop items were damaged while other property melted due to excessive heat on the container hence causing serious damage while other buildings were saved.
The container belongs to Atim Fiona Kabazira.
Mudong says arson is suspected as the cause of the fire.
