Peter Banya, the Gulu Resident City Commissioner (RCC) in charge Laroo-Pece Division says they are considering starting a weekly market day in the city to offer more space for traders to transact business.
Banya says that the idea which is still being discussed will see traders sell their merchandise once a week along a street yet to be gazetted.
This comes as the city implements a trade order to get rid of unorganized trade in kiosks and containers along main roads and road reserves.
The operation which started over two weeks ago has left many traders stranded as many say they cannot afford paying rental fees at gazetted markets.
Unconfirmed reports say that several young business women were resorting to prostitution following the trade order.
Banya however dismissed the report saying there is a lot of space in existing markets for the traders to occupy.
Banya who is leading the trade order implementation says that operation has improved on hygiene and security in the city.
