Amuru district to Close all illegal Landing sites in the district

Osborn Geoffrey Oceng, the Amuru Resident district Commissioner (RDC) says authorities are set to close all illegal landing sites in the District.

Oceng says that they have received directives and guidance from Lt General Sam Okiding, the deputy Chief of Defense Forces and the Army Leadership to streamline fishing along the landing sites in Amuru District.

Oceng says there are only three gazetted landing sites in Amuru district which include; Te-Okuttu, Kampala and Atoro Landing site.

He adds that each landing site will only have 15 boats.

Oceng further says that they will form sub-county landing sites committees that will be supervised by the UPDF.

He says the initiative is aimed and conserving and regulating fishing at the landing sites in Amuru district.

There are over seven Landing sites in Amuru but only three and legally known.
