The police in Kitgum say a 52-year-old woman has died after her husband allegedly kicked her in the ribs during a domestic quarrel over food
The deceased has been identified as Atim Florences, a resident of Lukira South Village, Lukwor Parish, Amida Sub-County, in Kitgum District.
Joe Oloya, the Aswa Regional Police Spokesperson notes that the incident occurred on Monday, at around 6:00 pm.
According to Oloya, Quinto Nyeko, the husband, picked a quarrel with Atim (deceased), reportedly over food.
The argument escalated into a fight in which Nyeko allegedly kicked Atim around the ribs before she fell unconscious.
Oloya further reveals that family members rushed Atim to the hospital, but she died before reaching Kitgum General Hospital.
He says Nyeko has been arrested and is currently being detained at Kitgum Central Police Station.
Police have opened a case of murder by assault, explaining that an investigation into the incident has commenced, before the file is submitted to the Resident State Attorney for advice.
Atim’s body is in the mortuary at Kitgum General Hospital pending a postmortem examination.
