Awere Community requests President Museveni for support

The community of Awere in Omoro district which hosted President Yoweri Museveni during his struggle to overthrow Idi Amin Dada, a former president of Uganda have urged him to remember them.

Terence Odonga, a member of the Awere community says Museveni formed a training camp for the Front for National Salvation (FRONASA), a liberation movement which started in 1971 to overthrow Amin.

Odonga says they lost sons of the soil namely; Okello Jacob Agwa, Lino Okoya, John Labeja and Peter Lakwo Lawoko during the struggle in 1973.

He says President Museveni should remember them through ministerial/job appointments, scholarships, infrastructural development and income generation projects for their contribution to the struggle.

Odonga adds that the president has in the past supported selected individuals in Awere but that there has been no tangible impact for the community.
