Residents of Lamwo District have raised concerns over the worsening road network after heavy rains left several major routes damaged and difficult to pass.
The most affected roads include the Padibe-Palabek Road, Kitgum-Palabek Road, and the Padibe-Madi Opei road through Paloga.
Motorists say deep potholes, flooding, and muddy sections have disrupted transport, delayed business activities, and increased travel costs across the district.
Okello Michael, a boda-boda rider along the Padibe–Palabek route, says the poor roads are damaging motorcycles and discouraging passengers from travelling.
Okello says he spends hours trying to move vehicles stuck in mud, especially during heavy rainfall.
Auma Janet, a trader who transports produce to Padibe Market, says transporters now charge higher fees because many vehicles avoid flooded trading centres.
She says farmers are struggling to deliver produce to markets on time.
The complaints come despite Lamwo District receiving more than 1.5 shillings for road maintenance in the 2025/2026 financial year.
District leaders say some rehabilitation works have been carried out, but limited equipment and continuous rains have slowed progress.
Residents are now demanding urgent repairs and better drainage systems to restore transport and economic activities in the district.
