The current on and off rains being experienced in Acholi Sub region are expected to continue up to mid-June, according to the July to August weather forecast from the Ministry of Water and Environment.
The forecast predicts that the region will experience isolated showers during the rest of the first season.
It also predicts reduced crop yields due to low moisture in the soil considering that a good number of farmers planted their crops late.
Flower abortion is also experienced to occur in coffee plants due to prolonged dry spell.
The ministry advises farmers to irrigate their crops and plant fast maturing and improved crops to adapt.
