Lamwo leaders turn to traditional wang oo dialogue to foster unity

Leaders in Lamwo District are set to revive the traditional Acholi dialogue forum, Wang Oo, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and improve service delivery.

The Resident District Commissioner, William Komakech, says divisions among political, technical, cultural, and religious leaders have slowed development and affected the implementation of government programmes in the district.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting at the district council hall on Monday, Komakech urged leaders to put aside their differences and work together for the benefit of the people.

He says development can only be achieved when leaders share a common vision and focus on improving the welfare of citizens.

Komakech announces plans to convene a Wang Oo dialogue involving all stakeholders to discuss challenges affecting the district and identify collective solutions.

The initiative has received support from district leaders, including Chairperson Oyet Sisto Ocen and Speaker Doris Abalo, who say dialogue is key to building trust and promoting effective leadership.

Residents hope the move will accelerate development and improve essential services.
