300 receive psychosocial help in Patiko Sub County

300 people in Patiko Sub County in Gulu district have received psychosocial help through counseling for 15 weeks.

Komakech Patrick, the LC III Chairperson for Patiko Sub County says the beneficiaries were counseled by community facilitators who previously received training from Hope Link Uganda in the past.

Komakech says the community facilitators identified 300 community members who are affected by depression and stress among others psychosocial issues.

He fears that cases of suicide may rise if the community which is facing a lot quietly is not helped.

He notes that issues affecting the community include stress resulting from their withered crops due to too much sunshine, anxiety, depression, land disputes and poverty among others.

Komakech advises beneficiaries of the 15 weeks counseling to become ambassadors of stress management within themselves, their family and friends.

He also advises those feeling stressed to always confide in a trusted person because a problem shared is halfway solved.
