Three Nabbed Over Series of Aggravated Robberies in East and West Acholi

Three members of a suspected criminal gang behind aggravated robbery cases in East and West Acholi have been arrested in Lamwo district.

The suspects who were arrested over the weekend include; 28 year old Reagan Oku, a businessman who resides at Kal Central ‘B’ Cell, Palabek Kal Town Council, 21 year old Polycarp Mwaka, a boda- boda rider who resides at Padwat East Village, Palabek Nyimur Sub-county and 21 year old Ismael Oyet, a resident of Logolo Cell in Palabek Kal Town Council.

Reagan Magombe, the Lamwo District Police Commander says the suspects were arrested at 3:00am on Saturday during an intelligence led operation.

Magombe says the suspects led a team of police officers to Adara Hills in Ayuu-Anaka Parish, Palabek-Gem Sub-county from where one AK-47 rifle loaded with 24 rounds of live ammunition was recovered.

He also says police suspects that the recovered firearm has been used in the commission of aggravated robbery cases under investigation, including one in Lamwo and another in Gulu West.

The DPC further says the suspects were detained at Lamwo Central Police Station and are helping police with more information.

The arrest comes at a time when parts of Acholi Sub region have been experiencing a wave of armed robberies with some leading to the death of victims.
