A police patrol vehicle has knocked dead a motorcyclist in Apac district.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson says that the Police patrol vehicle, Registration Number UP 00150 knocked the unidentified man at 8:15 pm at Centre C, about one kilometre away from Apac Central Police Station.

Okema said in a statement that the Police patrol vehicle was returning from Akokoro Sub-county, where it had deployed police officers on official duty when it knocked a motorcycle, Registration Number UDY 956S, ridden by unidentified male boda-boda rider who knocked the left tyre of the vehicle while joining the main road.

He says that the boda-boda motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and that his body was conveyed to Apac General Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem and identification by relatives.

Meanwhile, some members of the community reportedly became agitated and pelted stones at the Police officers who later managed to quell the situation.

Okema says that the vehicle and motorcycle were removed from the scene and parked at Apac Central Police station pending inspection.
