Authorities in Patiko Sub county, Gulu district have resolved to adjust the weekly market day at Patiko Ajulu market from Sunday to Wednesday following concerns from Christian denominations that they are experiencing a low turn up of Christians in their churches.
Patrick Komakech, the L.CIII Chairperson Patiko Sub county says that the sub county received petitions from the Catholic, Anglican and Born-Again Christians for the market day to be changed.
Komakech says that the clerics were concerned that their members were not able to concentrate and finish the Sunday service as they wanted to be at the weekly market.
The chairperson says that the clerics feared that failure to use Sunday to worship God could lead to calamities such as drought, flooding, storms and disease. Patiko Ajulu market generates 250,000 shillings monthly in local revenue for Patiko Sub county
