Plans underway to redevelop drainages within Gulu city commercial areas

Gulu City Town Clerk Innocent Ahimbisibwe confirms the City’s intention to redevelop drainage system in dilapidated state within the city as most of them in commercial areas have been blocked by garbage especially plastic waste.

Speaking from Acholi Hotel yesterday, the town clerk says the work will be done in consultation with City’s Engineering Department to ensure that the development aligns with the city’s physical planning standards.

He notes that city authority be will engaging with different government agencies and utility companies like National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), and telecommunications service providers, to facilitate the relocation of utility infrastructure where necessary.

He says the city is  prioritising improvements of drainage system to  prevent flooding inorder to creat a conducive environment for commercial investment.

Ahimbisibwe notes that in order to make the project a reality coordinated planning with key utility service providers 

During the meeting property owners requested for a continuous technical guidance and physical support from the City’s Engineering Department to ensure this development conform to the city’s physical planning standards.
