Farmers Urged to Stop Pulling Ox Ploughs on Roads to Prevent Damage

The rural farmers have been asked to stop the habit of pulling ox plough on the roads since it leaves the roads damaged.

Balingtone P’ Ongwec the secretary production works and technical services reports that farmers have destroyed several roads with their ox plough when on their way to their gardens and when coming back from the garden.

Balingtone says that the roads have developed pot holes due to that which renders any effort of maintaining the roads useless because however much they are maintained, the ox plough will be pulled on them severally.

Balingtone advises the farmers to find transport like motorcycles and vehicles or even bicycles to transport their ox plough up to the gardens so that our roads last before getting damaged.

Patrick Omara, a Farmer from Loyoboo village in Unyama subcounty when contacted by favor FM responded that they normally pull the ox plough because it is convenient that way, arranging for transport to take it to the garden is quite expensive for the local farmers to afford.
