LC 1 Chairpersons are suspecting that serious hunger will strike their different villages due to the dry spell which withered most crops from gardens notably beans and maize.
Acire David, the LC1 Chairperson of Lukodi village in Bungatira Sub County, Gulu district suspects that famine will ambush villages due to the drought which has frustrated people who lack where to run to for help.
Acire says that previously farmers used to guess when to plant despite the change in climate but this time, they have totally failed hence leaving farmers speechless and scared.
Acire adds that domestic violence cases are on the rise in his village due to the lack of food in households which causes couples to argue over small issues.
According to Acire, farmers are frustrated to an extent that others are promising to abandon farming and wait to buy food from the market just like others.
