Peter Banya, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Laroo-Pece Division, has urged students who are participating in Ball games II in Gulu City to avoid night movements in order to avoid trouble.
Banya further urges those responsible for the students’ welfare to pay closer attention to the female students and ensure they do not leave the venue after the games noting that they are more vulnerable.
He adds that teachers should help in supervising students and also set tough rules to avoid students from getting into trouble.
Robert Mugisa, a teacher says some students are in Gulu for the first time which makes it hard to guide them because they are fond of disappearing to visit their friends.
He adds that they plan to gather and advice the students about staying safe.
Vivian Nakato, a student from Jinja SS, says it is her first time to visit Gulu.
She advises fellow students to move in groups incase they are moving out in order to avoid attacks by criminals.
Ball games II which is being hosted in Gulu City for seven days has brought together about 10,000 students from across Uganda.
