A suspected notorious cattle rustler has been arrested and 95 head of cattle impounded during ongoing joint security operations in Kaabong District.
The suspect has been identified as Koryang Loteng, a resident of Moru-ngikamar Village, Kathile Sub-county, Kaabong District. Loteng was arrested on 20th July 2026.
Mike Longole, the Mt. Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson, says the arrest is part of ongoing operations to recover illegal firearms and curb cattle rustling in the region.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to having a firearm and further revealed that he shares the gun with another suspect identified as Lowanyang Koryang of Lokwakaramoe Village, Kathile Sub-county, Kaabong District, who is still at large.
Following the admission, yesterday at around 7:00 am, a joint force of ASTU and UPDF personnel conducted an operation in Lobatou Village.
The team impounded 95 head of cattle belonging to the suspect and his relatives.
Longole says the impoundment is intended to compel the suspects to surrender the illegal firearm.
