Leaders in Agago District are urging the government to prioritise construction of the Moroto–Agago Road, saying improved infrastructure is key to boosting trade, investment and service delivery.
Speaking at the Acholi Local Government Leaders Forum in Gulu City, LCV Chairperson Wilson Otto said Agago remains one of the few districts in Uganda without a single tarmac road.
He says poor roads increase transport costs, limit market access for farmers and discourage private investment.
Otto notes that a paved road would strengthen links between the Acholi and Karamoja sub-regions while improving access to health, education and other essential services.
Residents say poor roads make it difficult to transport produce and reach health facilities, especially during the rainy season.
District leaders have pledged to jointly advocate for better infrastructure to accelerate economic growth across the Acholi sub-region.
