Waste Recycling Enterprises in Gulu, Lira and Soroti Receive Financial Boost from GLOFORD

Global Forum for Development (GLOFORD), a Lira city based non-profit organization is boosting waste recycling enterprises in Gulu, Lira and Soroti by giving them access to cheap credit.

Irene Aceng, the partnership manager at GLOFOD says under their wealth from waste project, they target entrepreneurs in the waste value chain through direct loans, business management and literacy training.

Aceng explained that the organization disbursed over 100 million shillings in loans to waste recycling enterprises as of June this year.

She said that the loans which attract a 10% annual interest, are mainly to support purchase of machinery and transportation.

Aceng says that they have supported four enterprises in Gulu including Axon Gum, an enterprise that makes organic feeds and manure with 19 million shillings.

Axon Gum which is based in Patiko Sub County makes feeds from Black soldier flies and Azolla for feeding chicken and fish.
