
Residents of Unyama Sub County in Gulu district have got their hopes for better security raised ahead of the completion of a 1 block 5 door house which is expected to house 5 police officers in the sub county.
The LC3 chairperson unyama sub county, Kidega Justine told favor FM that in 2024, unyama subcounty residents donated a 1-acre piece of land to Uganda police to construct a police station at the sub county to boost security.
Kiidega reports that the residents are now very happy as the construction has now reached the beam level nearing completion.
Kidega says that in the past Unyama has been recording a lot of crime and unwanted behaviors because it had only 4 police officers.
He argues that now that the police officers at the sub county have been increased in number to 12 and the [police station construction is also about to be completed, security shall be readily available for the community.
Kidega adds that the rate of crime has reduced but the moment the construction is done and the police officers start living there, the security of unyama will be tight and higher than ever before.
Kidega asks those who think it is okay to commit crime to desist from it because the police will now deal with them according to the law.
Kidega advises the residents to choose peace and ensure that unyama is calm at all times.
