The Uganda Peoples defense forces (UPDF) yesterday donated a total of 400 bags of impounded charcoal to residents of Koro in Gulu City.
The Charcoal was impounded from Charcoal dealers who violated the Presidential directives on Commercial Charcoal business.
The 4th division Commander Maj. General Wilberforce Sserunkuma, urges the residents to plant trees to stop environmental degradation.
He also cautioned Charcoal dealers that all their Charcoal will be impounded and distributed for free to people.
The distribution of the Charcoal was overseen by local leaders in Gulu City Including the Gulu City Speaker Akena Lameck Lambert and other Councilors.
Recently, the former 4th division Commander, Major General, Felix Busizoori with a team of joint security distributed a total of 800 bags of Impounded Charcoal to residents of Anaka Town Council in Nwoya district.
