Defense Minister Stresses Unity at Inter-Forces Games in Gulu

The Minister for Defense and Veterans Affairs, Honorable Kiryowa Kiwanuka has called for Unity among security forces to achieve a common goal

Honorable Kiryowa made the remarks on Monday while opening the 18th Edition of the Inter-forces games at St. Joseph’s college Layibi in Gulu City

Honorable Kiryowa noted that Sports is very crucial in bringing synergies among the different sectors adding that a strong force is normally built around its people

He also applauded the Chief of defense Forces of the UPDF, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the different initiatives he has put in place to bring unity among the forces

The deputy Chief of defense forces, Lt. General Sam Okiding in his speech said Northern Uganda in the past suffered years of insurgency but now its experiencing a Peace and that this games are meant to foster unity among the different forces

Lt. Gen. Okiding added that the UPDF is working on different developmental projects in Northern Uganda adding urging the Community to embrace the different governmental development initiatives

Gulu City Mayor, Labeja Julius Gunya applauded the forces for bringing the games to Gulu City adding that Government should consider adding more development initiatives in Acholi sub-region

The Inter-Forces games that has brought together, UPDF, Uganda Police, Uganda Prisons and Uganda Wild Life Authority is under the theme: ‘’Building Synergies through sports’’
