Gulu City Speaker Takes Helm of Greater North Urban Council Speakers

Atube Collins Bolingo, the Speaker of Laroo-Pece Division in Gulu City has been elected Chairperson of the Greater North Urban Council Speakers Association from St. Lira Hotel.

He becomes the leader of Speakers from 41 districts across Acholi, Lango, West Nile and Karamoja sub-regions.

He was declared winner after three nominated candidates stepped out of the race.

Bolingo takes over from Okeng Moses Hassan, the former Speaker of Lira Western division.

Bolingo pledges to take the association to greater heights through inclusive leadership, advocacy, and addressing challenges affecting Speakers in the Greater North to improve service delivery.

He describes the election as an indication of strong and visionary leadership noting that the confidence placed in him by leaders from across the region demonstrates that Laroo-Pece has leaders capable of excelling at every level.

Greater North Urban Council Speakers Association was established in 2001 bringing speakers across the four regions to share experiences and challenges in their work but also advocate for the welfare of Speakers and Councilors.
