Shop keepers in Anaka town council in Nwoya district and market vendors are clashing for business during market days.
Sunday Ojok, a shop keeper in Anaka town council told Favour FM that the vendors fill up all the roads and available space, making it very difficult for the customers to enter shops and purchase goods because all the goods are lined up outside.
Ojok says that due to this fact, on auction days shopkeepers don’t make money at all yet it should have been a day that they go home smiling with good amount of money in their pockets.
Ojok demands the district authority to take action on this as both parties need to earn money in order to be able to pay taxes.
However, John Paul Onyer, the town clerk Nwoya district says, there is nothing much they can do concerning that because a market day draws people from different places, therefore the sales made depends on the seller’s ability to influence buyers.
