
Seven people have been arrested for robbing 69 million shillings from Arua central business district.
The robbery occurred on the 15th of last month at midday from Adumi road along Aria public cell, Bazaar ward, Arua city central business division.
The arrested suspects are Agu Ashiraf, Kapere Saudi (the LC1 Chairperson of Adriko cell in Arua city), Muzaidi Amba Zaza, Muhammad Ali, Iga Rashid, Farouk Juma and Kamil Ramathan.
Josephine Angucia, the Police Spokesperson for West Nile region alleges that Rachit Patel, a business man who doubles as the Manager of Muke Commodities in Arua city was travelling to Wall Forex Bureau with money worth 69 million shillings while riding a scooter motorcycle when the incident occurred.
Patel reportedly parked after meeting a big procession on the main road around Stanbic bank.
He was then trailed by two men on a numberless motorcycle upon resuming his journey.
Patel’s bag containing the money was grabbed by these men from around IMC bank and disappeared.
Angucia says the case file of the suspects will be compiled and forwarded to Resident State Attorney for legal advice and sanctioning before they are taken to court to face the charge of robbery.
Angucia says inquiries continue under Arua City Central Division CRB 551/2026.
