Gulu University Invests Shs313 Million a Year in Health Care for Staff and Community

Gulu University spends over 313 million shillings annually to treat staff, students and community members at its Health centre II.

The facility that is initially meant for students and staff of the university also welcomes community members seeking services such antenatal care, general diagnosis, laboratory tests and treatment, according to James Onono Ojok, the University’s Public Relations Officer.

Onono told journalists during a press briefing at the Northern Uganda Media centre (NUMEC) in Gulu City yesterday that providing health care is one of the community transformation strategies the University is implementing.

He explains that the health centre which is fully staffed and headed by a medical doctor is looking forward to being upgraded into a specialized facility to be able to offer more services to the community.

A total of 3,214 community members have been treated at the facility since the beginning of the year, according to statistics.
