Aber Giftar Vows to Champion Child Mothers’ Cause in Gulu Mayoral Race

Aber Giftar, a candidate for Laroo-Pece Division Mayoral race has pledged to champion the cause of child mothers in Gulu City through lobbying.

She was speaking at a community gathering in Laliya yesterday.

Gitar vows to lobby for support to empower single mothers, citing challenges they face in accessing education and healthcare.

She also emphasizes her commitment to ensuring single mothers benefit from government initiatives, such as the Parish Development Model in order to boost their economic prospects.

Sharon Acan, a local resident highlights the plight of child mothers, who often turn to prostitution due to poverty.

Betty Aol Ocan, the Gulu City Woman MP suggests establishing SACCOs owned by child mothers as a means of empowering them economically.

She adds that many single mothers often turn to prostitution instead of seeking help from their families after their marriages break down.

Statistics indicate that a significant number of girls in Northern Uganda are child mothers with many facing the challenges of early motherhood, poverty, and cultural norms.
