Government through the National Information Technology Authority (NITA) Uganda has donated a total of 220 laptops to schools in Acholi sub-region.
The computers were lobbied by Ojok Andrew Oulanya, the Omoro County Member of Parliament and handed over to Acholi MPs by Alioni Yoke Odria State, the Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance.
The handover ceremony was conducted over the weekend from Opit S.S Playground in Omoro district.
Odria says these computers will help in improving the learning of students in rural schools of Northern Uganda.
Ojok applauds government for the support to rural schools in Acholi sub-region saying that these computers will help in digital literacy and improved learning.
Ojok also urges government to improve on the network and connectivity of mobile networks in Omoro district because the world is becoming increasingly digital.
Each district in Acholi sub-region received 20 laptops which were received by the different Members of Parliament.
Catherine Lamwaka, the Omoro district Woman MP says she donated the 20 laptops to students of Onono Memorial, Koro, Ongako and St. Thomas SS and all government aided schools.
