Amuru LCV Chairperson warns parents against keeping children home

Christopher Odongkara, the Amuru district LCV Chairperson has cautioned parents in the district against keeping children at home as the new term begins.

Odongkara says many parents in the district tend to keep their children home during the first two weeks of a new school term which is unacceptable.

He says they will conduct community sensitization and also launch operations to arrest parents who are keeping children at home.

Odongkara further urges government to code more community schools into government schools to ease the burden that parents in hard to reach areas like Lakang sub-counties are facing.

He says sub-counties like Lakang lacks a government aided primary or secondary school but only has community schools that are being supported by parents.

Education in Amuru District faces severe hurdles across its 340 schools including high dropout rates and a heavy student-to-teacher ratio though local authorities are working on upgrades through the Amuru District education department.
