
The Boda boda riders are on the spot for impounding motorcycles of their fellow boda bodas without clear identity of who they are.
According to the Deputy Resident City Commissioner for Bardege Layibi, Kamba Amir, several cases have been reported to his office against the boda boda fraudsters.
Kamba says that impounding of people’s motorcycles is the work of the police and it is an illegal act for the members of the public to indulge without authorization from the police.
Kamba says the persons being reported to be doing this are the boda boda stage owners and the boda boda leaders and their team who should desist from what they are doing because when caught they will face the law.
Kamba also warns the members of the public to take note because there are thieves reportedly moving around and claiming they work with National Forestry Authority, police and the army, implementing executive order number 3.
Kamba adds that the thieves are impounding vehicles and motorcycles at night and taking large sums of money from the members of the public, so far with a joint security effort he says, they have managed to recover a vehicle stolen from Malaba in Gulu city under pretense that it was impounded under executive order number 3.
Kamba asks everyone to be cautious on those who impound vehicles and motorcycles on the road by taking every detail and knowing their identity and location because later it will be easy to follow their motorcycles and vehicles.
The chairperson Gulu City West Boda boda association, Emmy Ocen has also caution fellow boda boda to desist from illegal impounding of motorcycles.
