A sick bay has been constructed at Coopil primary school in Unyama Sub County in Gulu district to help girls during their menstrual days.
Oryema Patrick Apire, the secretary education for Unyama Sub County says the construction of the sick bay is already at 95% and will be ready for handover to the school any time this month.
Oryema says when handed over, the girls will be able to leave class for a few hours during their menstrual days to rest and receive care and necessary apparatus from the sick bay and then return to class for normal learning which is better than missing school.
Oryema applauds Field of dreams for coming up with such an initiative aimed at keeping the girl child at school.
Justine Kidega, the LC III Chairperson for Unyama Sub County says is a blessing to have a sick bay meant for the girls because in most parts of the country, girls miss school for a week and only return to school after their menstrual days are done.
Kidega encourages the girls to be resilient and normalize menstrual periods in order to stay in school.
