Gulu District has flagged off a team of children to represent the District at the National Kids Athletics Championship in Tororo.
The championship will begin today with player screening scheduled for today and tomorrow while the actual competitions start on Wednesday.
Athletes will compete against teams from other Districts.
Atim Harriet Okot, the Gulu District Education Officer says the district has given the team it’s full support and is praying that the Under-14 and Under-12 athletes perform well in order to promote Gulu District.
Sunday Ojara, the Gulu District Sports Officer urges the athletes to strive and bring home a trophy in order to make Gulu proud.
He believes that the name of Gulu District will shine and some athletes could go on to represent Uganda at the national level basing on the training that the players have received.
