Gulu Police Hold Three in Testimonial Fraud Probe

The Police of the Gulu City Central Business Policing Division are holding three suspects to help with investigations surrounding circumstances linking them to an alleged offence of personating persons named in a testimonial.

The suspects have been identified as; 35-year-old Lakot Nighty Oneka, a resident of Forest cell, Laroo-Pece Division, 30-year-old Lariang Agnes, a resident of Obiya Cell, Laroo-Pece Division.

The other is 25-year-old Atoo Phiona, a resident of Obiya Cell, Laroo-Pece Division.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson says that at around 1:00pm yesterday while at Obiya Wii Got South polling station in Laroo-Pece division, Gulu City, the three suspects were arrested by Okot Denis, the area LC1 Chairperson.

The voter location slips in the names of Ayee-rwot Prosperity, Anek Agnes and Abedi Agnes including one voter location slip for the suspect; Lakot Nighty Oneka where recovered after a search was conducted.

Mudong says statements have so far been recorded from the suspects, the complainant and other relevant sources.

He adds that the recovered voter’s location slips have also been exhibited to aid with investigations.

Mudong urges the candidates and the voters of the affected polling station to remain calm as the police speeds up thorough investigations surrounding this incident to it’s logical conclusion.
