
A good number of Infrastructure at Laroo Adraa Primary School in Gulu city are in dire need of renovation.
Several classrooms have potholed floors making them dusty while ramps meant to ease access for learners with physical disability have also been eroded and lack rails.
Chalk boards in some classes for children with special needs have holes.
Monica Akello who heads the hearing impairment unit at Laroo Adraa primary school says children with development challenges have a hard time reading and understanding words written on chalk boards with holes.
Akello has since shifted the pupils to study under a veranda where they use a portable chalk board.
The integrated primary school which has 45 pupils with special needs, majority of them with hearing impairment while others have development challenges and physical disabilities.
Denis Ocen Lakwonyero, the councilor five for persons with disabilities who also doubles as a board member at National Union for Persons with Disability Uganda (NUDIPU) on Thursday visited the school.
Lakwonyero was shocked by the poor learning conditions of children with special needs and promised to present the issues before authorities.
