Security officers have arrested 12 residents of Kasubi Small Gate after they were found watching a football world cup game late at night during an operation in the area.
The arrests were made today at around 3:00am as the group was heading home after the match.
Peter Banya, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner for Laroo-Pece Division urges residents to avoid watching football late at night for their own safety.
He notes that criminal activity often increases during those hours.
Banya adds that the 12 suspects are currently being held at Central Police Station and will be released after a thorough investigation by security agencies.
Ayotto Polline, the LC1 Chairperson of Kasubi Small Gate, urges police and the army to intensify operations in the area to curb crime.
She commends security forces for arresting the group found watching football “almost in the morning” and advises residents to prioritize their personal safety in order to avoid trouble.
Last week, a similar operation in Kanyagoga led to the arrest of about 10 suspected criminals, some of whom remain in police custody.
