New Convocation Chairperson to Be Chosen at Gulu University AGM

A new chairperson for Gulu University convocation is set to be elected at the convocation’s Annual General Meeting slated for December 20th.

The new chairperson will replace Pastor Joseph Okidi, who died in October following an accident along Gulu-Juba road.

James Onono Ojok, the Public Relations Officer Gulu University says that the chairperson of the convocation represents the alumni who are currently over 30,000.

Onono however says that alumni who are fully subscribed by paying 20,000 shillings are the only ones who will have voting rights, while the rest can only attend.

He explains that the main role of the chairperson of the convocation is to represent the views and interests of former students to ensure growth and development of the learning institution.

Gulu University’s convocation is a statutory body established under section 70 of the University and other tertiary institutions Act, Cap 262.
