The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has completed the process of identifying and endorsing its flag bearers for the forthcoming Village Women Council and Local Council I (LC1) elections.
The party Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong has urged members to participate in the electoral process and mobilise support for the party’s candidates.
Addressing journalists at the NRM Secretariat in Kampala, Todwong said the party had successfully conducted village barazas to elect and validate its flag bearers before endorsing their nomination forms on July 13 and 14, clearing them to seek official nomination by the Electoral Commission.
Todwong urges party members to participate in the ongoing display of village voters’ registers by the Electoral Commission and verify that their details are correctly captured ahead of the elections.
He says candidates for LC1 chairperson and Village Women Council positions will be nominated between July 16 and 19, calling on all NRM flag bearers to report to their respective sub-county headquarters with their duly endorsed nomination forms. Ahead of the Village Women Council elections scheduled for July 23, Todwong announces that the party will hold another round of village barazas on July 22 to mobilise support for its candidates.
