Locals in Amar Parish, Koch-goma sub-county in Nwoya district have reportedly chased away their Parish Chief over alleged persistent drunkenness.
This was confirmed by Michael Opwonya, the Assistant RDC of Nwoya district while addressing local leaders who had gathered for a sensitization meeting organized by Equal Opportunity Commission at the district Council Hall.
Opwonya says locals accuse the Parish Chief of being a perpetual drunkard who could not deliver at work.
He adds that locals escorted the Parish Chief with the help of security and brought him back to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO’s) office on Thursday.
Opwonya says that district leaders have recently started to implement tough disciplinary measures against incompetent and corrupt staff.
Opwonya further says that three Town agents in Anaka Town Council were also recently recalled from their duties according to recommendation of the district Council for failing to do their work.
Opio Daniel Okumu, the Secretary for Finance and Administration at Nwoya district Local Government says they will arrest any employee of the district who comes to work while drunk.
Opio says this measure is aimed at improving service delivery for the people in the district.
