A total of 7,018 former Election Special Police Constables have transitioned into professional roles in the private security sector after completing a five-week training course at the Olilim Counter Terrorism Police Training School in Katakwi District.
The constables, drawn from 32 policing districts across the country, were passed out yesterday and will be deployed to various private security companies nationwide.
The training, which began on March 11, 2026, was designed to equip the guards with skills to respond to evolving security challenges.
The trainees underwent 16 modules covering weapons safety, guard and escort duties, counter-terrorism awareness, crime scene management, and professional ethics.
Jaspher Oloka, Commandant of the Counter Terrorism Police Training School Olilim, says the programme was designed to build confidence, skills, and knowledge for the private security sector.
Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba, who presided over the pass-out, said the former SPCs had performed their election duties diligently and should not have their skills wasted after their three-month contracts expired.
He challenges the graduates to view their new roles as a national calling
