Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) experts have urged parents to seek early treatment for respiratory tract infections in children to avoid complications.
Mild symptoms of respiratory tract infections in children include runny or blocked nose, sneezing, cough, sore throat, mild fever, and general fatigue or irritability.
Meanwhile, severe symptoms include difficulty in breathing, rapid or labored breathing and snoring while sleeping.
Dr. Caroline Adong Cephas, the head of the ENT department at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital says that treating the infections early avoid long term complications such as adenoids and tonsils which lead to surgery.
This comes as the ENT department is carrying out a five-day surgical camp where 70 % of the patients are children.
Over 100 people have turned up for the free ENT surgical camp.
