Police in Amolatar district are investigating the drowning of an 18-year old fisherman in Ober Okaa Village, Namasale Sub-county.
Bruno Ogwal, a resident of Awelober Village had gone fishing alongside a friend Samuel Okwara when they were hit by strong winds leading to water washing into their boat which then started sinking at 4:00pm on Monday.
The two men reportedly jumped into the water and started swimming in an effort to save their lives but Ogwal, the deceased unfortunately drowned.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson says that a team of police officers from Namasale Sub-county visited the scene of crime and have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Okema says that efforts were being made to retrieve the body.
He adds that the deceased who hails from Abei Village, Agali Sub-county in Lira District had been staying with his grandparents in Awelober Village, Namasale Sub County.
